Uterqüe
What I did
Senior Womenswear Designer owning concept and creative direction for the Woven category at Uterqüe, Inditex’s premium brand and the most expensive product in the group, covering outerwear, tailoring, soft tailoring, casual and occasionwear. The brand’s largest category, at around 60 styles per season; category sales doubled over the period.
I ran the category end to end, from first concept through to production. The range was built with the buying team, absorbed merchandising requirements from the markets, and held its creative direction against commercial targets.
I developed 70 percent of the collection’s fabrics rather than selecting them, specifying construction, pattern, colour and finish, and working with Italian mills to produce them to that brief.
I ran product development across India, China, Romania, Morocco and Portugal, and read the market first hand in London, Paris and New York. Those sourcing regions sit at very different levels of documentation maturity, which is the same problem traceability and supplier reporting present today.
In 2022 Inditex closed Uterqüe as a standalone brand and carried the line on inside Massimo Dutti, as Massimo Dutti Studio.
